Pub hopping in mind… This week’s top picks by Ms Su are

Hop onto your car, gather your friends and South Bangalore is ready to show you a good time. The latest players to join the club is Gilly’s, located on Bannerghatta road and By the Peepal in JP Nagar.

Your first Pitstop can be By the Peepal. Order a couple of Beer sampler and appetizers to kick start the evening. I was excited to visit the place as not many restaurants serve the Apple Cider Beer in Bangalore. My love of this drink can be dated back to my visits to New Zealand and the hunt for tasting something similar in Bangalore has been a battle on the loosing front. Imagine my surprise when I saw Apple Cider on their menu. Ordered a sampler and it was good, but certainly didn’t tick all the boxes for me. They did fare well food wise, my favorite was the Paneer Bao. I loved the easy and not overtly decorated ambiance. It’s divided into 3 floors and has ample seating and I wouldn’t worry about reservations. They have both closed and open seating spaces so be it a warm summer or a cold winter you will enjoy the evening here. Service can be certainly better, half the time I was exercising my biceps to catch the attention of the waiters. The evening turned to be quite expensive so make sure you have enough bucks on you.
PS: This would be a nice place to watch a LIVE screening of any sports with your buddies, we caught some action on the IPL match during our visit.

Your next stop can be Gilly’s located on Bannerghatta road and not very far from By the Peepal. This place is located on the 6th floor and has an open rooftop and is tastefully decorated. I simply loved the food here. Me and my gang of gals tried most of the popular veg dishes. Sadly, I forgot to click pictures of all the dishes we ate. Service is a bit slow. However, once a waiter has been assigned to you they see that all your needs are taken care off. A special mention has to be made of Mr. Messiah who saw that all the food that was ordered was delivered to our satisfaction, he went out of his way to help us in choosing our drinks and food. Highlights and a must try is their Mumbai chatpat, Corn and Water Chestnuts and an old time fav of mine Cheese Cherry Pineapple sticks.

You still have the time? I would say treat yourself with a good dessert. If DBC is your go to dessert, then you will find a corner house within a 2 kms radius.

Happy weekend and let me know how you spent it.
