We (Shruthi Rathan and MsSu) were invited by Plattershare to an exclusive tasting of the new and improved Gorilla Barfare (formerly called Jimmy’s). Located centrally in Koramangala 6th Block, an ideal place to visit with family, friends or a quick bite to eat before you venture into the offices of Income tax department.
Owners Rajeev and Kushboo have given the place an ambience that is upbeat and live and giving their customers huge variety to choose from. For a cold evening you can choose to sit in the dim lit pub style place or if you are photo geek like me then choose the semi outdoor seating.
You certainly will be spoilt for choices here…there are three floors to choose from. At the ground level you have the restaurant dishing out pizzas and drinks each designed with a USB. Proceed to the next two floors you will find a more chilled and relaxed environment featuring foosball tables, pool tables and a Play area too. They also have a unique BYOB (Build your own burger) burgers available.
However this review is focused on the ground level grub. We tried their perfectly curated Strawberry Margarita and Mojito featuring the summer’s fresh produce. Both were unique and tasted good. The mixologist used Sugar syrup infused fresh ice slush instead of ice cubes. This indeed gives the drink a good body and taste.
We later tried their French fries just perfect and the kids would love it.
Nachos was another appetizer that we ordered next. The dish was calling for some good dose of gooey yellow string cheese, colored bell peppers and certainly good amount of jalapenos. The salsa had a good kick to it and made the dish enjoyable.
Wood fired Farmhouse pizza was one of the best pizzas that I have eaten in the recent past. Good amount of veggies and the cheese was not over burdening this thin crust pizza. Suitable for the Indian palate with a hint of spice.
Sai Priya showed us how to make a perfect Dessert version of a Pizza with a healthy doze of nutella spread generously on a ultra thin base, the strawberries and the banana gave a good contrast visually and taste wise.
Thank you Plattershare for the invite and looking forward to our next meet.
Thank you Subhashini for such a lovely write-up. Indeed it was a fun evening and talking in the relaxed environment was the best part. Hope to see you soon.
